How to Resize an Image for LinkedIn
All LinkedIn Image Sizes (2026)
LinkedIn uses different image dimensions for personal profiles, company pages, posts, articles, and events. Using the exact recommended size prevents cropping, blurriness, and ensures your content looks professional across desktop and mobile.
| Format | Size (px) | Aspect Ratio |
|---|---|---|
| Profile Photo | 400 × 400 | 1:1 (circle) |
| Personal Banner | 1584 × 396 | 4:1 |
| Post (Square) | 1080 × 1080 | 1:1 |
| Post (Portrait) | 1080 × 1350 | 4:5 |
| Post (Landscape) | 1200 × 627 | 1.91:1 |
| Article Cover | 1920 × 1080 | 16:9 |
| Company Logo | 400 × 400 | 1:1 (circle) |
| Company Cover | 1128 × 191 | ~6:1 |
| Event Cover | 1776 × 444 | 4:1 |
| Link Preview (OG) | 1200 × 627 | 1.91:1 |
| Newsletter Cover | 1920 × 1080 | 16:9 |
| Carousel / Document | 1080 × 1080 | 1:1 |
Personal Profile vs. Company Page
LinkedIn has separate image specs for personal profiles and company pages. The most common mistake is using the personal banner size for a company cover (or vice versa) — they have completely different dimensions.
| Element | Personal Profile | Company Page |
|---|---|---|
| Profile Photo / Logo | 400 × 400 px (8 MB max) | 400 × 400 px (3–4 MB max) |
| Banner / Cover | 1584 × 396 px (4:1) | 1128 × 191 px (~6:1) |
| Max File Size | 8 MB | 3–4 MB |
| Formats | JPG, PNG | PNG (recommended), JPEG |
Both profile photos display as circles, so keep faces or logos centered and away from the edges. LinkedIn does not retain PNG transparency — transparent backgrounds convert to white.
Banner Safe Zone
LinkedIn banners are cropped differently on desktop and mobile. On mobile, the sides are cut significantly. To make sure text, logos, and key visuals remain visible on all devices:
- Personal banner (1584 × 396): keep important content within the center 1200 × 300 px safe zone.
- Company cover (1128 × 191): keep important content within the center 1000 × 150 px safe zone. Mobile crops to approximately 900 px center width.
- Event cover (1776 × 444): keep important content within the center 1600 × 400 px.
Always test your banner on both desktop and the LinkedIn mobile app before publishing. A banner that looks great on desktop may have critical elements hidden on phone screens.
Carousel / Document Post Dimensions
LinkedIn “carousel” posts are created by uploading a PDF, PPTX, or DOCX file as a document post. Each page of the document becomes a swipeable slide in the feed.
| Spec | Recommended |
|---|---|
| Square Slides | 1080 × 1080 px (1:1) |
| Portrait Slides | 1080 × 1350 px (4:5) |
| Landscape Slides | 1920 × 1080 px (16:9) |
| Optimal Slide Count | 8–15 slides |
| Max Slides | 300 pages |
| Max File Size | 100 MB (keep under 3 MB for best quality) |
| File Formats | PDF (recommended), PPTX, DOCX |
| Min Text Size | 28 px |
| Safe Zone Padding | 80 px on all sides |
Tips for carousel posts:
- Export as PDF for the sharpest text and most consistent layout across devices.
- Square (1:1) has the broadest compatibility; portrait (4:5) takes more screen space on mobile.
- Keep file size under 3 MB to avoid aggressive LinkedIn compression.
- Design at 1080 px minimum width and 150–300 DPI for retina-sharp display.
- Engagement tends to drop after 10 slides — aim for 8–15 slides with a strong opening hook.
Article & Newsletter Cover Tips
LinkedIn articles (long-form content published via the LinkedIn editor) and newsletters share the same cover image specifications:
- Recommended size: 1920 × 1080 px (16:9 aspect ratio).
- Minimum size: 744 × 400 px. Smaller images appear blurry.
- The cover image actually renders at approximately 1128 × 650 px on desktop — the image is not cropped but scaled down, so design with key elements centered.
- Use authentic, high-quality images rather than generic stock photos — they perform significantly better in engagement.
- Newsletter logo: 300 × 300 px (1:1 square). Keep it simple and legible at small sizes.
Article covers are the first thing readers see in the feed. A strong, relevant cover image with clear text overlay can increase click-through rates by 2–3× compared to generic images.
LinkedIn Post Image Best Practices
LinkedIn supports up to 9 images per post. For multi-image posts, all images should ideally share the same dimensions. Single-image posts support three orientations:
- Square (1080 × 1080): clean, professional look. Works well for infographics and quotes.
- Portrait (1080 × 1350): takes up more screen space in the mobile feed. Best for engagement.
- Landscape (1200 × 627): traditional blog/article feel. Good for link preview images.
Images below 401 px wide display as tiny thumbnails in the feed. Always upload at the recommended dimensions. LinkedIn accepts JPG, PNG, and GIF (static only — animated GIFs render as static images). Maximum file size is 8 MB per image.
