FLAC.flacLossless compressed format. Smaller than WAV with identical quality. Audiophile favorite.
OGG.oggOpen-source compressed format (Vorbis codec). Good quality at lower bitrates.
AAC.aac, .m4aAdvanced Audio Coding. Default for Apple devices, iTunes, and YouTube. Better than MP3 at same bitrate.
WMA.wmaWindows Media Audio. Microsoft ecosystem format. Common on older Windows devices.
AIFF.aiffApple lossless format. Similar to WAV but from the Mac ecosystem. Used in music production.
OPUS.opusModern open codec. Excellent quality at very low bitrates. Used in voice calls and streaming.

Common Use Cases

  • Create ringtones — select a 20–40 second portion of any song to use as a phone ringtone. Cut the exact chorus or drop you want, then download and set as your ringtone.
  • Edit podcasts — trim intros, outros, or awkward pauses from podcast recordings. Remove the first few seconds of dead air or cut an episode to a clean ending point.
  • Extract audio samples — pull specific sound effects, vocal snippets, or instrument loops from longer recordings. Perfect for music producers, DJs, and content creators.
  • Trim lecture recordings — cut out the waiting period before a lecture starts or remove irrelevant Q&A at the end. Keep only the content that matters.
  • Social media clips — trim audio to fit platform limits. Extract the best 15–60 seconds of a song or speech for Stories, Reels, or TikTok.

Audio Quality

When you select “Same Format” as the output, the tool cuts the audio stream directly without re-encoding. This means the trimmed file retains the exact same bitrate, sample rate, and audio quality as the original. The cut is made at the nearest frame boundary for lossless precision.

If you choose to convert to MP3 or WAV, the audio is re-encoded using high-quality settings: MP3 output uses 192 kbps CBR for consistent quality, while WAV output is uncompressed 16-bit PCM for perfect lossless fidelity. Both options preserve the original sample rate.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. When you keep the original format ("Same Format"), the tool uses stream copying — it extracts the selected portion without re-encoding. The trimmed audio is bit-for-bit identical to the original in the kept region. If you convert to MP3 or WAV, re-encoding occurs with high-quality settings to minimize any quality change.
Yes. Upload any song or audio file, select the 20–40 second portion you want as a ringtone, and download the trimmed clip. For iPhone ringtones, you can then convert the result to M4R format using the Convertio audio converter.
The maximum file size is 100 MB. This is typically enough for several hours of compressed audio (MP3, OGG, AAC) or several minutes of uncompressed audio (WAV, FLAC, AIFF). Processing is fast because trimming copies the selected portion without re-encoding.
Yes. You can choose between three output options: "Same Format" keeps the original format with lossless stream copying, "MP3" converts to MP3 at 192 kbps, and "WAV" converts to uncompressed WAV. Select your preferred output format before clicking Cut & Download.
